Tevae Vontrell Shoels (he/they) is a New York-based, Texas-born multihyphenate—actor, singer, producer, and activist—whose artistry is deeply rooted in purpose and power. A graduate of Baylor University with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, Tevae’s voice is a vibrant tapestry that effortlessly weaves through opera, jazz, gospel, and musical theatre.

Tevae is currently making his Broadway debut, serving as the Genie and Babkak Standby in Aladdin Broadway, a production that has shaped his artistry since he saw it on Broadway in 2015. It is the first show he ever saw on Broadway.

With talent representation by Henderson Hogan Agency, Tevae has built a career defined by versatility, truth-telling, and a passion for “artivism”—activism through artistry. He is fiercely committed to creating equitable spaces for all performers, both onstage and behind the scenes.

Regional theatre credits include: Bloat in Finding Nemo: The Big Blue and Beyond and Jim Handy in The Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Lodge; Angel in Rent (Theatre West End); Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Ted Bates in TEXAS: The Outdoor Musical (Pioneer Amphitheatre). Additional performances include a solo debut at 54 Below, ensemble work for NBCUniversal’s Upfronts at Radio City Music Hall alongside Seth MacFarlane, and singing with the iconic Voices of Liberty at Walt Disney World.

Tevae is the founder of Shoels Creative Co., a production company dedicated to cultivating innovative, inclusive, and groundbreaking new works. As a producer, he champions projects that reimagine the world of musical theatre with diversity, equity, and inclusion at their core. He also lends his talents as a music director and music assistant, and has taught masterclasses across the American South, including at his alma mater, Baylor University.
